My story

Nearly 20 years in the ER and cardiology. Then I became the patient.

I earned my BSN and MSN at Johns Hopkins and spent my clinical career in emergency medicine and cardiology. The longer I worked there, the more I wanted to reach people before they needed emergency care.

In 2019, on the way home from a vacation in Hawaii with my husband, I was hospitalized with a ruptured appendix. I spent 13 days in the hospital, and our two boys kept me going. Twenty-seven days after I got home, I gave my TEDx talk, and it went viral.

I went on to train in advanced nutrition and functional testing, and I've spent the years since helping women in midlife understand what's changing in their bodies. I do not believe that women have to accept weight gain as a normal function of aging.
